What Leadership Looks and Sounds like: The Anti-Stereotype

by Oanh Crouch Twitter LinkedIn My mother is a strong and powerful woman.  She is an influential leader who knew when to be blunt and firm, and when to be supportive and empathetic. I regret that I did not always think that way about my mother.  I did not see her as a leader. During my rebellious teenage years, I am ashamed to say I most ...

Being 10% Braver: #IAmWriting.

by Vivienne Porritt @ViviennePorritt

We started WomenEd because women's voices on twitter were often silenced, harrassed or our views were not valued. It's one of the reasons we included a mic in our logo. So we encouraged women to tweet and to write blogs to tell our stories and share our lived experience.

One of the reasons we wrote 10%braver: Inspiring Women to Lead Education was to ensure the voices of our community reached women who are not on twitter. And over 30 voices are included in Being 10% Braver which, joyously, is published this December - you can pre-order and it's a great Christmas present! And we are delighted to share more opportunities for our community to write and to be heard.

by Micky Dominguez   @micky_dominguez

by Susie Fernandez @SusieFe15145779

Finding the permission to create

by Maria @CreativityMrs

There are many obstacles to creativity. I used to say to myself that I didn't have the time, or the resources nor the inspiration. Trawling through countless websites and magazines would leave me completely overwhelmed, that I didn't even know where to start—so I didn't! I wonder if my initial lack of creativity wasn't based on the obstacles that I came up with, but with the thought of permission. The creative pursuits I wished to have, unless validated, seemed to be a huge waste of time. I thought that unless I was creating an example for the children to use in my classroom, it was a pointless exercise. And yet, I was encouraging others to be creative, but not giving myself the permission to do the same.

Encontrar el permiso para ser creativo

by Maria @CreativityMrs
