Looking back and Looking ahead - #Highlights2021 Canada

2021 saw the collaboration of our Canada networks. From the far West in British Columbia and Alberta to the Prairies of Manitoba, to Central Canada and our team in Quebec, women leaders in Education looked for ways to build our visibility and grow our networks.
Our vast geography, expensive travel, and with no central rail system like our sister networks in Europe and the UK, makes in-person gatherings a challenge to say the least. We met as a group and determined that we would continue working in this fashion – together, rather than independent networks.
We will still endeavor to host small, regional events, as Alberta has done in the past, pre-global disaster, but until we had a surge of committed followers and folks invested, we determined to work smarter not harder!
Looking ahead we are going to publish a series of regional blogs featuring an educator in our respective areas. We committed to tagging each of our regional networks in our social media accounts to support one another and to grow our learning and leading network. Our group is an authentic bunch, grappling with leading in a pandemic, doing meaningful research in a pandemic and prioritizing local commitments alongside volunteering with #WomenEd.
As country lead for Canada and a Global Strategic Leader, I am proud that these leaders devote time to moving leading as female forward, are solution focused and recognize some of our local challenges and hurdles, such as embedding the learning from our country's work with Truth and Reconciliation. We acknowledge our own privilege and want to use our platform to amplify voices of Indigenous leaders.
